Do You Deserve A Getaway?

Of course you do!!!

Anyone who thinks that unemployed people don’t need (or deserve) a vacation should be tied up and flogged with wet noodles.  That seems like an appropriate way to punish someone for thinking that unemployment & job hunting is not stressful and even grueling (both mentally & physically).  You may think that’s extreme.. perhaps you’d prefer a nice verbal lashing but I happen to like wet noodles.  So, if you are one of those people, please get in line and I will get the noodles ready.

Anyhow…  this past week my mother called me to share some information that I’m now going to share with you.

The Blue Bay Inn

The Blue Bay Inn

There’s a hotel, along the Jersey Shore, that is having a contest for a “Free Stay & Party Weekend” for anyone who is currently out of work.  I have no affiliation whatsoever with this hotel, my mom just happened to hear about this on a local news channel and I’m now sharing the info with you in case you might be interested.

The Blue Bay Inn is a boutique hotel located along the Jersey Shore about a 40 minute ferry ride to NYC.  Once again, I have never stayed there, nor am I involved with this hotel or contest in any way.

Here’s a snippet I’ve copied from their website:

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NEW JERSEY– The Blue Bay Inn (, a Boutique Hotel with fast ferry access to Manhattan, is offering a Free Stay and Cocktail Party on New Year’s Weekend to people who were recently laid off as part of their “Hotel for the Holidays” promotion.

On Saturday January 2nd, the 23 recipients will check into the hotel for their complimentary 2-Night Stay to be welcomed with a complimentary exclusive “Job Seekers Success Workshop” to be followed up with a “Copper Canyon Cocktail Party” on Sunday night, courtesy of renowned chef and the Copper Canyon ( restaurant owner, Michael Krikorian.

More info can be found here:

If you think you’d enjoy a couple of days away (please note: their website says you must provide your own transportation), it might be worth sending them a letter.  It sounds like they might provide some good resume exposure as well.

Here are MY rules 🙂 :

  1. If you do apply…. you had better not be chosen in place of ME!  And….
  2. If you do win…. you must send me a huge thank you (either that or you must help me find a job if you are hired as a result of this event!).

Sounds like a fair trade to me??

So, good luck to you!  Get your resume & letter together and who knows… maybe we’ll be enjoying some cocktails together on January 3rd!
