Jobs.jpgJob seekers can access about 450 career sites free of charge, now through Jan. 15, under a joint initiative organized by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The “Tools for America Job Seekers Challenge,” the first initiative of its kind, allows users to test drive the websites, many of which normally charge subscription fees. Job seekers are encouraged to explore the sites and then vote for their favorites. The department will then release the results of the vote later this month.

“Even in these challenging times, there are jobs out there waiting to be filled,” Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis said in a statement. “By leveraging the resources of hundreds of private and public sector career websites, we have created a major online asset for job seekers and an innovative way to gauge which tools appeal most to consumers.”

To access the job search sites, visit dol.gov/challenge and click on “Phase 2.”
